ASN Lookup
Find the network behind any IP address, and whether it's a home ISP, a hosting company or a VPN. Fidro flags 958 hosting and VPN networks. Free, no signup.
IP to ASN: why the network matters
Every public IP address belongs to a network with an autonomous system number (ASN). Comcast, Vodafone and BT run networks full of homes and phones. AWS, DigitalOcean, OVH and Hetzner run networks full of servers.
That difference is most of what IP-based fraud detection is about. A customer on home broadband looks like a customer. A "customer" on a hosting network is a VPN, a proxy, a scraper or a script, and the fraud score should say so.
Fidro flags hosting networks as datacenter IPs (+15) and VPN networks as VPNs (+25) in the IP fraud score. Each network page below shows what Fidro knows about it: size, announced ranges, and how many of its addresses are Tor exits, open proxies or on abuse lists.
VPN networks
Networks commercial VPN providers rent their servers from.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ASN?
An autonomous system number (ASN) identifies a network on the internet: an ISP, a mobile carrier, a cloud provider or a hosting company. Every public IP address is announced by one of them. AS16509 is Amazon, AS14061 is DigitalOcean, AS9009 is M247.
How do I find the ASN of an IP address?
Type the IP into the ASN lookup above. Fidro finds the network that announces it and, if that network is a hosting or VPN provider on Fidro's lists, takes you to its risk profile.
Why does the ASN matter for fraud?
Because it tells a home connection from a server. Real customers browse from ISPs and mobile carriers. VPNs, proxies, bots and fake-account farms run on hosting networks. The ASN is how Fidro tells the two apart, and why a datacenter IP adds 15 points to the fraud score and a VPN network adds 25.
Which networks does Fidro flag?
About 958 hosting and VPN networks, taken from the open X4BNet lists_vpn project. Their IP ranges make up the datacenter and VPN lists every Fidro check uses. Home ISPs and mobile carriers are not flagged.
