Fidro vs IPinfo

IPinfo tells you about an IP address. Fidro weighs that alongside the email and the location, remembers earlier signups, and returns one decision your code can act on.

What is Fidro?

Fidro is a fraud detection API for developers. One call checks an email address and an IP for disposable domains, VPNs, proxies, Tor and datacenters, remembers earlier signups and logins, and returns a 0 to 100 risk score with an allow, challenge or block recommendation. Where Fidro differs from IPinfo

More than the IP

IPinfo tells you about the network. Fidro adds email checks, disposable domain detection and location matching in the same call, and Stripe payment scoring on Pro.

A decision, not a data point

Fidro weighs the network signals with everything else and returns allow, challenge or block, so you don't write scoring logic around raw flags.

Common questions

What is the difference between Fidro and IPinfo?
IPinfo is an IP data platform. Its core product is accurate, deeply annotated IP intelligence, with privacy detection covering VPN, proxy and Tor. Fidro is a fraud decision API: it uses network signals as one input alongside email validation and geolocation matching, and returns a single risk score with a recommendation. IPinfo is the better source of IP data; Fidro is the better source of a signup decision.
Is IPinfo more accurate than Fidro for VPN detection?
On raw IP classification, IPinfo is a specialist with a larger dataset and publishes accuracy figures above 99% with sub-10ms response times. Fidro does not claim to beat a dedicated IP data provider on IP data. What Fidro adds is the surrounding context, because a VPN flag in isolation is a weak basis for blocking a customer.
Is VPN detection included in IPinfo pricing?
Privacy detection, which covers VPN, proxy and Tor, is offered as an add-on to lower-tier IPinfo subscriptions rather than being included by default. Check current terms on their pricing page, as this market changes often. With Fidro, VPN, proxy, Tor and datacenter detection are part of the standard call on every plan including the free one.
Should I use IPinfo or Fidro?
Use IPinfo if you need best-in-class IP data, bulk database downloads, or IP intelligence for analytics and geolocation beyond fraud. Use Fidro if the question you are answering is "should I let this signup through", where the email address matters as much as the IP. The two are not mutually exclusive, and some teams use IPinfo for enrichment and Fidro for the decision.
Does IPinfo check email addresses?
No. IPinfo works on IP addresses. Email validation and disposable-domain detection need a separate vendor, which is the two-subscription stack Fidro consolidates into one call.
